Indigenous Oriented Therapy
Hello, I'm PEter
I practice the Mi’kmaq concept of Two-Eyed Seeing: Etuaptmumk. I support clients using traditional approaches to healing, including land-based healing, combined with Western therapeutic practices.
A Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist and an Indigenous (Mi’kmaq) male, trained in various forms of land-based traditional healing as well as western therapeutic modalities.
I have studied Indigenous wellness with the Blackfoot, Cree, Anishinaabe and Mi’kmaq peoples.
I have taken Indigenous Focus-Oriented Therapy (IFOT) from the University of Calgary, and working towards full certification. I also utilize various westernized psychotherapeutic modalities which I was trained in at the University of Western Ontario.
I approach practice through an Indigenous trauma-informed lens, which prioritizes your sense of safety and empowerment. Utilizing a blend of evidence-based practices (including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy), I empower you to challenge negative thought patterns and reshape your personal narratives. If you’re struggling with the impact of intergenerational trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, addiction, grief & loss, anger & emotional regulation, or overwhelmed with anxiety/ depression, I am here to support you on your path to wellness. Please contact me to set up an introductory phone call, or an intake appointment.
Where We Gather
At My Office, Virtually, or On the Land
We will gather where you feel the most comfortable. We are on this journey together. The first, and often most difficult step, is to reach out. I am here to support you in your wellness.
I Believe That...
Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health are Deeply Intertwined.
Applying the Anishinaabe concept of Mino-Bimaadiziwin, meaning “the good life,” I encourage my clients to live in harmony with the world around them, fostering balance and well-being. This philosophy promotes mental health healing and growth through the pursuit of a balanced and respectful life.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment, where we can unpack your concerns around substance use. I believe in meeting clients where they are at. If you are working towards abstinence, or harm reduction. We can make a plan together.
Emotional Regulation Guidance
If you are concerned about fast change in moods. Perhaps you are someone that turns to anger easily. Or in contrast, you disconnect and isolate. If you are managing everyday obstacles in a way that is detrimental to yourself or others, I am here to teach you strategies on how to better regulate these emotions.
